Since I’m watching Coldplay live at Croke Park in Dublin tonight, I thought it would be apt to have a Coldplay song for the Track of the Day. Therefore, “Something Just Like This” by Coldplay and The Chainsmokers is today’s track. I will be doing a gig review for the concert in the near future, so look out for that!
The Track of the Day today is “Cave” by Future Islands. Future Islands are another band that I’ve found through listening to Spotify adverts and they sound like a less dance-y Hot Chip. Apparently they were at Glastonbury Festival back in 2015, but I had no idea who they were back then. They’re definitely not for everyone, but could be for you!
Today marks the start of a slight change to the Track of the Day, that change being that on Thursdays I shall now use an older track and jump on the bandwagon that it Throwback Thursday. So here is this weeks throwback track which was no.1 on this day in 1995, “Boom Boom Boom” by the Outhere Brothers.
New band on the block LANY take today’s Track of the Day spot with their song “Super Far”. This song has a nice chilled out indie-pop feel to it with soft vocals and is off their debut self-titled album LANY. I see this band going far.
With the recent weather and hearing about the recent adventures my friends have had abroad, I could really do with a Holiday. Unfortunately, due to money and graduation week fast approaching, I’m unable to travel so as a result I’ll have to settle with the summer track by Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg, John Legend and Takeoff.
“Superfresh” is the latest single by Jamiroquai and is off their recent album Automaton. It is a great upbeat funky disco track which is true to Jamiroquai’s original style, but with a modern flair.
The Strange Bones take on the Avelino, Stormy and Skepta collaboration “Energy”, is today’s Track of the Day. As the song title suggests, this track is full of energy and this version is a mix of two upbeat genres; punk rock and grime. A well produced track that even rivals the original.
